Conformance
This website is built using TheraPages, a website platform for therapists designed and tested to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The platform’s layout, navigation and built-in features have been tested against these guidelines and currently meet them, with no known outstanding issues. Testing combines automated accessibility tools with manual checks carried out by an accessibility specialist, who has also guided the platform’s development, and includes keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader testing.
How accessibility is built in
Accessibility is handled by the platform automatically, and the following cannot be turned off:
- Colours are chosen from tested palettes that always meet AA contrast requirements, so text is never shown on a background too low in contrast to read.
- Text is never smaller than a minimum size widely recommended for readability, and can be enlarged, with the page reflowing to stay readable, without content being lost or breaking the layout.
- Text is never placed directly over an image without a readable background behind it.
- The site can be operated by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link.
- Page structure and navigation use correct, semantic markup that works with screen readers.
Content added by the practice
Some of this website — page text, images and links — is written and added by the practice. The platform is designed to prevent common accessibility problems in this content wherever it can, and to guide the author where a choice depends on judgement the system cannot make for them. A few things therefore cannot be fully guaranteed:
Images — the platform asks for a text description on images, but whether an image is meaningful (and needs a description) or purely decorative (and should be left without one) is a judgement the author makes, with guidance.
Headings — the platform provides properly structured headings, but the order an author applies them in may not always follow a perfect hierarchy.
Wording — guidance is provided on clear, descriptive link text and plain language, but the final wording is the author’s.
Where these choices can’t be enforced automatically, the author is supported with guidance to keep their content accessible. The accessibility of author-written content is actively supported this way, but cannot be guaranteed in every individual case.
Known issues
This website has no known accessibility issues at the platform level. If that changes, any known issues will be listed here.
